Thermodynamics within the Framework of Classical Mechanics

چکیده
The approach to a substantiation of thermodynamics is offered. A conservative system of interacting elements, which is not in equilibrium, is used as a model. This system is then split into small subsystems that are accepted as being in equilibrium. Based on the D’Alambert equation for a subsystem the generalized Liouville equation is obtained. A necessary condition for irreversibility is determined. This condition is dependence the forces of interaction of subsystems on relative velocities. The equation of motion of subsystems of potentially interacting elements is obtained. The non-potentiality of the forces of interaction of the subsystems consisting of potentially interacting elements is proved. The mechanism of occurrence of irreversible dynamics is offered. The formula that expresses the entropy through the forces of interaction of subsystems is obtained. The theoretical link between classical mechanics and thermodynamics is analyzed.

Quantization of Contact Manifolds and Thermodynamics
The physical variables of classical thermodynamics occur in conjugate pairs such as pressure/volume, entropy/temperature, chemical potential/particle number. Nevertheless, and unlike in classical mechanics, there are an odd number of such thermodynamic coordinates. We review the formulation of thermo-dynamics and geometrical optics in terms of contact geometry. The Lagrange bracket provides a g...

The mechanism of irreversible dynamics in the mixing systems is constructed in the frames of the classical mechanics laws. The offered mechanism can be found only within the framework of the generalized Hamilton's formalism. The generalized formalism is created by expansion of the canonical Hamilton's formalism to the open systems. A formula, which expresses the entropy through the work of subs...
متن کاملBlack holes and thermodynamics
There exists a set of striking similarities between the laws governing the equilibrium mechanics of stationary black holes and the classical laws of thermodynamics. While the full development of this relationship requires the use of quantum field theory, the connection between thermodynamics and black hole mechanics is evident even in the framework of classical general relativity. This paper pr...
متن کاملNonlinear Dynamical Equation for Irreversible, Steepest-entropy-ascent Relaxation to Stable Equilibrium
Abstract. We discuss the structure and main features of the nonlinear evolution equation proposed by this author as the fundamental dynamical law within the framework of Quantum Thermodynamics. The nonlinear equation generates a dynamical group providing a unique deterministic description of irreversible, conservative relaxation towards equilibrium from any non-equilibrium state, and satisfies ...
متن کاملCoherence and measurement in quantum thermodynamics
Thermodynamics is a highly successful macroscopic theory widely used across the natural sciences and for the construction of everyday devices, from car engines to solar cells. With thermodynamics predating quantum theory, research now aims to uncover the thermodynamic laws that govern finite size systems which may in addition host quantum effects. Recent theoretical breakthroughs include the ch...
